Love That Lasts Every Day
Every year on February 14, Valentine’s Day brings a different kind of excitement. The celebration, commonly linked to Saint Valentine, has become a global tradition where people express love and appreciation. Here in the Philippines, it’s common to see red decorations in schools and public places, along with students exchanging small gifts and handwritten letters.
In my experience, Valentine’s Day is more about friendship and gratitude rather than grand romantic gestures. I remember preparing simple notes and giving them to my close friends as a way of saying thank you for their support and laughter throughout the year. Sometimes we would share snacks, take photos, and just enjoy each other’s company. Those simple celebrations made the day memorable and meaningful. Though every year, I would buy my mom, my lola's, and my tita's some flowers or any type of gift. As long as it has a purpose or something meaningful.

There were also times when I didn’t receive gifts or surprises, but I realized that Valentine’s Day isn’t about counting what you get. It’s about what you give. Your time, attention, and kindness. Even greeting my family and helping at home made the day feel complete. Small efforts can create lasting memories.

For me, being “always on Valentine’s Day” means choosing to show appreciation not only on February 14 but every day. Love is best expressed through consistent care and respect. When we practice kindness daily, every day can feel like Valentine’s Day.
